BTS Theory #1 - Danger

Sup girls

So yeah, I've been watching pretty much every single BTS music video, prologue and short film for a million times during last week, so my brain is basically destroyed at this point. It hasn't been for nothing though, I have a basic idea about the story now so I'm gonna start putting the things I've figured out in here.

I watched all of their music videos and other things that I find important, and the first video that seemed to have something to do with the main story is Danger ((just a prank bro, the first music video that is connected to the main story is N.O but since it's just the red pills and I don't know what they do, I can't really write about it)). I know, I know - it's from 2014 and there are tons of theories about it out there. I'm still gonna put my thoughts about it in here though, since this blog is basically just a place for me to put my theories and thoughts into.

((If you don't want to read a full length novel about a goddamn music video, skip to the end, I have a few videos and a shortened version of this junkyard of thoughts in there))

DANGER - Korean version

Click here to watch the Korean music video, it makes it easier to understand what I'm talking about. I also took the music video and added some things that I noticed in it, I'll put a link to that in the end of this post.

So, my theory is probably the same as everyone else's: Both Korean and Japanese versions of Danger are about break ups, and especially about how V takes them. In the music videos all of the boys go through a break up, and they're all obviously bummed about it. Each of them have their own ways of handling it though; RM spends his time writing, Jungkook focuses on making music, J-Hope puts his feelings into dancing, Suga plays basketball and Jimin starts boxing. Also, throughout the video there are posters saying "Defend equality - love unites" seen on the walls, but one of them is crossed over, representing how the boys put hoes before bros and not the other way around, which ended up leaving them all having to deal with their problems pretty much alone.

V and Jin don't seem to have anything to distract them from the pain caused by their break ups, but everyone else in the group does. Jin, as the oldest hyung, probably feels like he shouldn't get sad over a relationship like all the younger ones do, so he just does his best to forget about it and continue his life. Him trying to forget about his girlfriend (aka. his "past") is shown as him burning a bunch of chairs and a desk that have been seen in their music videos earlier. It's not easy to tell what he's burning in the Danger MV itself, but it's shown clearly in the behind the scenes video:

Aaand here's a screenshot from Boy in luv, where they used the same chairs and desks:

So, the burning chairs and desks represent Jin being able to forget about the break up and move on with his life faster than the others. V handles the situation in a pretty opposite way. Unlike all the others, V does every single thing he can in order to make the relationship work. Him cutting his hair represents him trying to change himself for the girl, but even after that the relationship still ends shortly.

That's all I got out of the stories of Jin and V in Danger, but there are a few things left, we still have five more sad boys over here. The five react pretty similarly to their hearts getting broken, and we can see all of them moving on in the end; Jin moved on when he burned the chairs, V gets his life back together in the Japanese version, and the rest of the boys are seen stopping doing the things they did to forget about the pain, meaning that they're able to bear it on their own now. RM finds a new interest in tattooing, Suga throws away the basketball, J-Hope finally takes a break in dancing, Jimin breaks the punching bag and Jungkook smashes the piano. ((In case anyone was interested, RM tattooed the words "You're under a spell" on his arm))

DANGER - Japanese version

Moving onto the Japanese version!! You can watch it here.

The Japanese version has the same story as the Korean one, but it tells more about V's situation and also gives us more details about what's been going on. V is constantly seen on his phone, and in the beginning RM is checking on him. RM also hands V a microphone in the end of the video. This isn't super important for the story in this single music video, but it's a useful piece of information when we look at the main story that goes on through almost every music video they make; V always goes to RM when seeking for comfort.

Anyways, back to this video. V has a hard time deciding if he should focus on saving his relationship or if he should hang out with his friends. RM asks V to join them in a party, and after a while V decides to follow his friends. V keeps on trying to talk to his girlfriend in the party, but the conversation they're having seems to get heated, so he goes outside where the actual break up happens. When V has taken his time outside, he goes back into the building where all his friends are there for him, comforting him and having fun as a group again.

That's basically all I got out of the music videos, here's all of this in conclusion:

The music videos tell a story of how each member handles a breakup. While RM, Jungkook, J-Hope, Suga and Jimin all have something to make them forget about the pain (writing, making music, dancing, playing basketball and boxing), Jin and V react differently; Jin, as the oldest one, doesn't feel the need to pour his feelings into a hobby and instead just forgets about it and moves on faster than the others. V on the other hand doesn't want to let go of the relationship and tries to change himself for the girl. His relationship with her ends anyway, but he gets back on his feet with the support of his friends, especially RM. The ending of this story is happy, each member gets through the break up eventually and is able to move on.

Hope y'all enjoyed!! I most certainly did, this is a really long post lmao. Also yeah, the videos I mentioned: these are basically the original music videos, but I added some notes on them so it's easier to understand what is happening where, go check them out~
