BTS Theory #2 - The HYYH notes

It's been a while again, I hope y'all had fun during the holidays!! I sure did, and I actually got a very helpful (and lovely ah yes) present for Christmas; the Love Yourself: Her album. When I started to go through the photo books, I noticed that with each book came a small mini book/note thingy titled "花樣年華 THE NOTES". I tried to get good pictures of them but damn, the text is white, the background is light pink and Finland hasn't seen the sun in about 80 years.

They're all different and full of text in Korean, all I could understand by myself were the names of the bois and the dates since they were in English. Also no, you can't see shit from the photos but take my word for it, it's not much easier to read IRL

These notes are better known as the HYYH notes. There are several translations of them, I read like four or five different ones since the translations had a lot of differences, but this and this are probably the best ones I found. Please take some time from your day and read them since they clear out a lot of stuff and I'll be basing pretty much my whole theory on them. I don't want to talk about these notes too much yet though, I just want to point out a few things. The most important one is that the year 22 means 2017, the year 21 is 2016 etc. Here's why:

In the LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reels we see Jin walking to a truck that has text on it's side, and he gets a bouquet of flowers. I suppose this happens on August 30th.

This truck belongs to a character that is a florist called Testesso. He is specialized in this flower, smeraldo. The flower isn't real, it only exists in this story/lore/whatever the hell this universe is. So, this florist is a side character, and he even has a "blog" that someone kindly translated into English. Anyways, in the HYYH notes Jin looks for a specific flower on August 15th, year 22 and he stumbles upon this small flower shop. Testesso updated his blog on August 15th 2017 (here's the post he made translated to English), saying that he received the first order of smeraldo from a person that is clearly Jin. This connects the HYYH notes to the blog, the Highlight Reels and the rest of their music videos etc. Also here's a picture from Testesso's blog where he showed us his truck he was going to use to deliver smeraldos. The truck in the 12 sECOND GIF I MADE from the Highlight Reel is the exact same.

So now that we know how the years work, I made a quick timeline thingy. It's not pretty but it helped me with actually understanding the notes.

I didn't plan on publishing this yet since 1) it looks absolutely terrible, 2) it's missing a lot of stuff and 3) I originally made it for just myself so it might not make a lot of sense to others. I'll clear out some things from the timeline anyway:

• March 2, year 19: All of the boys are in the same area, Jin has just moved back to Korea. V might not go to school at all, he never mentions it anywhere unlike the others.
• June 11, year 19: Jin mentioned a day at the beach in one of his notes and said that it happened two years and ten months ago, so it would have happened here.
• June 11th, year 20: Suga has a fight with a teacher who slapped Jungkook for skipping class, around that time he stops going to school.
• September 15th, year 20: Jimin has had a seizure and is now hospitalized, he mentiones in his note a few weeks later that he is going to lie to the doctors and say that "he doesn't remember anything".
• April 7th, year 22: Suga is walking somewhere, the note is a bit weird but he's drunk and ends up meeting Jungkook for the first time since Suga dropped out of high school. He really doesn't want to be a part of anyone's life.
• April 11th, year 22: J-Hope, Suga, V and RM are hanging out together in RM's trailer box apartment thingy. Jungkook is by himself and gets beaten up, Jin goes to the sea alone, Jimin isn't mentioned.

I don't think I need to clear up anything else, it should make sense if you just read the notes. I didn't include every note to keep it simple, but there was only one note from the year 21 and that was just about J-Hope dancing. So we basically know nothing about what happened in 2016/the year 21.

Also, if you're like me and the first thought you had about the notes and the dates is that "oh, maybe 'year 19, Jin' means that it happened when Jin was 19, and 'year 20, Yoongi' means that it happened when Suga was 20 etc." then no, you're wrong. Jungkook and Suga both have a note from June 25th, year 20 where they both mention that Suga hasn't been in school for ten days. And they have like, what, four years of age gap? So no, it doesn't work.

Honestly this isn't even a theory, I'm just explaining and talking at this point. I was about to make a post about I Need U today but realized that I should probably talk about the notes first. I'll talk about the rest of HYYH as soon as possible, I've been very busy procrastinating lately lmao. And a little remark to end this post to: it's all just a story, what happens to the boys in it has pretty much nothing to do with real life~
